Exporting, backing up and deleting
Export a budget
In Settings, choose Export beside the budget, pick a format, and (except for a backup) the dates.
| Format | For |
|---|---|
| Spreadsheet (CSV) | Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets: every transaction, one row per split line |
| QIF | GnuCash, Actual Budget, HomeBank, Moneydance and others: keeps categories, splits and transfers |
| Plain-text journal | Ledger and hledger, including your monthly assignments |
| YNAB-style export (ZIP) | YNAB's layout. Pensum can import it back into a new budget |
| Complete backup (JSON) | Everything in the budget, always the full history |
Restore a backup
Choose Create a budget, then Import existing and A Pensum backup. It becomes a new budget; nothing you have now changes. Sharing and bank connections aren't in a backup, so set them up again.
Delete a budget
The owner can delete a budget from Settings → Delete this budget, after typing its name. Pensum offers a download first. It can't be undone.
Delete your account
Settings → Delete your account removes your account, every budget you own, and your access to budgets shared with you, right away. To keep a budget going for the people you share it with, hand it to one of them first (see Sharing a budget). Save a copy first. Deleted data is purged from backups within 30 days.
